TAU Removes Temporary Fuel Surcharge
February 27, 2026Te Aponga Uira (TAU) is pleased to announce the appointment of our Chief Executive Officer, Lesley Katoa, as the new Chairperson of the Pacific Power Association (PPA), becoming the first woman to hold this role.
The PPA is a regional inter-governmental organisation representing electricity utilities, organisations, and individuals who have an interest in the operations and development of the power industry across Pacific Island Countries.
The PPA was established in 1992 and has a Secretariat Office located in Suva, Fiji. Currently it has a membership of 26 electricity utilities operating in 22 Pacific Island Countries and 93 Allied Members world-wide with interest in the development of the power industry in the Pacific region.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we warmly congratulate Lesley on this significant appointment where strong stewardship is required as we utilities in the Pacific navigate the challenges of creating and maintaining resilient power infrastructure for our respective communities.” said TAU Chairperson, Donald Buchanan.
TAU recognises this as a proud achievement for our organisation, for the Cook Islands, and for the Pacific region as we continue to support strong, inclusive leadership in the energy sector. TAU leads by example in its commitment to fostering leadership excellence and supporting pathways that encourage greater participation of women in the energy sector.
