FAULTS & OUTAGES

TAU attends to faults that involve total power loss, low voltage complaints, damage to the network (or part of it), and reports of potentially dangerous situations.

If there is an outage emergency, TAU provides a 24 hour emergency fault service and will do everything it can to restore power supply safely and swiftly.

It is likely that a private electrician will be required rather than TAU’s Fault services if repair work is needed for damage causing partial loss to your premises, and this may include but not limited to damaged power points, and/or light fittings.

If you have an electrical issue that is affecting your entire premises and you notice that the neighbours still have power, the first thing to do is to check your fuses or circuit breakers.

Once you have checked your fuses and circuit breakers and they seem to be in order then it is best to contact our Fault Line phone: +682-25257.

Please note that you will be responsible for the cost of repairs to the electrical installation in your building and to the cable connecting your house to our pole or pillar box .

Call TAU’s 24H/7 FAULT LINE on phone +682-25257 and please provide the following information
  • Name of customer
  • Connection number of premises
  • Nature of the issue/complaint (total power loss, electric shock, low voltage or – dangerous situation)
  • Location or directions to premises

After this information is relayed the operator will automatically contact a fault man to address the problem as soon as possible.

We will do everything possible to restore your supply quickly. Our aim is to get your supply back on within two hours of notification, unless our faultmen is required to attend an emergency.

You may be advised to call a private contractor to complete the work.

If the job can not be repaired  by the faultmen it will be made safe until a private electrician can be contacted.

You will be responsible for the cost of repairs to the electrical installation in your building and to the cable connecting your house to our pole or pillar box.

The charge out rate consists of three components that is the labour cost, vehicle cost and material costs.

  1. Labour Cost: This cost is dependent on the number of hours spent in attending to your complaint which starts at the time the faultman is dispatched and finishes when the work is completed. The rate is $65/hour plus VAT.
  2. Vehicle Cost: is inclusive in the rate $65/hour plus VAT.
  3. Material Costs: You will be charged for any materials used by our faultmen.

NOTE: The minimum charge for both labour and vehicle costs is half an hour or 30 minutes.
