Te Aponga Uira (TAU) announced last month its plans to deliver a project to replace critical infrastructure (generation switch gear) in its power station. With thanks to all its customers for their patience, the first outage went as planned in the early hours of Sunday 19 May. TAU now wishes to advise customers and visitors of the second planned island-wide outage as part of this work, which will take place from 1am this Sunday 2 June 2024. This outage is expected to last at least four hours.
Outages continue to be carefully planned and timed for minimal disruption to residents and visitors, and our team will once again be working through the night at our power station as well as out on the network.
Once again, please check your backup generator is working ahead of this outage, and make sure any essential supplies have been topped up. If you require an uninterrupted supply of electricity for medical devices, please make appropriate arrangements. If you manage holiday accommodation, please let your visitors know to expect a planned power outage during the early hours of Sunday 2 June.
TAU is planning at least one further outage of a similar nature in coming weeks, and will inform customers as soon as it has confirmed those details.
Keep an eye on TAU’s website, www.teaponga.com, and Facebook page for updates on the project.
